China

Mount Tai

Yet another day of fantastic site-seeing here in China. We had an elaborate breakfast provided by the hotel we stayed at last night, then it was off to Mount Tai. At Mount Tai, you have two options: you can ride the cable car up the mountain (which takes about five minutes) or you can walk up the 6000+ steps to the top. We decided to walk up the steps, which was crazy! It took about two hours to get up to the top of the steps. Along the way, many Chinese citizens wanted to stop and take pictures of the American tourists. It is Chinese gesture to take pictures with the locals as they are more than accepting of tourists, especially Americans. I believe I stopped about seven or eight times and took pictures with many different Chinese. When we finally reached the top, we were greeted with the UNA Lions flag by our Chinese tour guide. Once at the top, we could see exactly how high we were and how we made it up the 6000+stairs. It was a long haul, but we all made it eventually. After our one hour self-tour of the top, we took the cable car back down the mountain and journeyed back to Tianjin. Tomorrow is our fist complete free-day. I do not have any plans currently, but I am sure that will change soon.

My name is Josh Hale. I am a Junior majoring in Business Geography. I anticipate graduating in Fall 2013. I am from a small town in Tennessee, and this is my first experience traveling outside the United States. I am looking forward to seeing the country of China from a geographical perspective as well as a business one. I hope to give my followers an idea of exactly how life is in China, and hope to enhance their knowledge of one of the upcoming economic powers of the world.

  1. WHERE is the blogger for the UNA art students in Nanjing??? There has been NO word from her!
While I am enjoying Josh Hale’s regular blogs from China, I certainly would like to hear SOMETHING from the group my daughter is with in Nanjing!
