China

Homecoming

Arriving at the Dallas airport in America was such a wonderful feeling. I had never been so proud to be an American or so proud to be back home. I had missed the freedom and the food more than words could express.

After waiting in line for over an hour to recheck our bags, a few of us sat down and had a phenomenal Mexican meal. I followed that meal with Starbucks, and it was filled with sugar and love. I was so happy.

The plane ride to Huntsville was short and sweet. I loved flying at night! I was so excited to see my family. When I walked off the plane and into the lobby, my family welcomed me with a huge “Welcome Home” sign and hugs and tears. It was great to be back and be in the arms of my favorite people.

However, I was terribly sad to leave the family I had formed with the other UNA students in China. We have a bond that can never be explained or forgotten. I am so blessed to have gone on this trip with such an amazing group of people.

China, you changed me, and I am forever thankful.

Kaitlin Chappell

Ni hao! My name is Kaitlin Chappell. I am a junior (soon to be senior) at the University of North Alabama. I am majoring in broadcast journalism and minoring in marketing. My dream is to be a news reporter and eventually an anchor on Good Morning America. I love to talk and I love to meet new people and hear their stories. I love love and laughing. Coffee shops are one of my obsessions. Traveling is another. I will be studying abroad in China for three weeks at Tian Jian University. I will be exploring several different areas of China, learning the language and customs, and meeting the people. I will blog and post pictures and videos to capture my trip. Join me on my adventures in the great land of China.
