Costa Rica

Weekly Market Time

Hola! Today we are going to a local open air market here in San Joaquin. It’s a weekly thing every Friday starting at 9ish and lasts all day. I feel so embarrassed because I was walking around taking videos and talking to the camera and people were either ducking out of the way or looking at me like a was crazy for being excited about fruit. But I really do love fruit. I eat it for breakfast everyday.

The first time that I went was an activity for UNA and we had to run around and look for different fruits and vegetables. I was so scared to be talking exclusively in Spanish to people who aren’t used to talking to Spanish learners, but they were super nice, so it wasn’t bad at all and I actually had a lot of fun. 🙂 I also ran into my Tican family buying fruit for me. Mama Tica loves me!

Anyways, I hope that you guys like the pics and the video! If I forget anything, then I will post it in the comments.

Olivia Melvin

Hi, everyone! I'm a 20-year-old senior majoring in Sociology and minoring in Psychology and Spanish. I'm originally from Puyallup, WA, but I've lived in six states since then with my six brothers and sisters. Visiting Costa Rica will be my first time leaving the country, but I hope it will be a precursor for future traveling adventures!
