Dubai

We are in Dubai U.A.E. (the city of gold) and all is well. This city is awesome!! The flights were nice and smooth.  I have found a new hobby. The one to Dubai took 14 hours. Got to see the night lights of Ireland, England and France. Watched the sunrise over Germany -priceless!!!! You can tell we are all Geography majors because most of the time we talked about the patterns that we could see from the plane (the Geography professors would be proud.) It made me think a lot when we flew over the middle east because here I was drinking coffee and enjoying myself and all I could think of was our military men and women.

Dubai is truly a international city. The people are friendly, it is easy to get around and clean. We got to tour the city and see the amazing buildings and play in the Arabian Sea!

We are at the airport and headed to Dar es Salaam…

Remember internet is hard to find so the post will be few and far between, but I’ll keep you all posted.

Hello everyone, this is Amanda. I am a graduate student in the Geography Department’s Geo-Spatial Science Program and an assistant for the Physical Geography field labs. I am from the ‘big town’ of Lutts, TN (you may have seen one of the numerous signs pointing to there, but probably never actually been there.) I graduated from Waterloo High School. I have a long background at UNA. I received my BA in Sociology and my MA Ed in Secondary Education from UNA. I am also a firefighter/EMT. I love helping people and teaching all ages. I enjoy anything to do with the outdoors - from gardening to kayaking, to camping and hiking.

  9. Wow! You are a great geographer . . . and as one geography professor who is not on the trip, you are doing great with your pattern recognition and analysis. Wish I was there.

I cannot wait until your next installment. Say Hello to your fellow intrepid explorers for me.
