Costa Rica

Today is the Day

I’m somewhat of a procrastinator. That was proven true when I finally decided to start packing around 9:30 last night! I finished around 12:30 this morning and I think I have everything. I definitely felt more prepared to pack for an adventure abroad after my trip to Senegal.

There are a few things that I have found are necessities no matter where I travel:

  1. My Bible and journal (I suggest writing any moments or experiences that you decide you never want to forget)
  2. A pillow and blanket for the plane (You’ve got to be comfortable….plus long plane rides can get very cold)
  3. Camera (This one is pretty obvious)
  4. Nutella (This was actually developed while in Senegal. It’s a new addiction)

I’ve fit everything into a large suitcase (under 50 lbs.), a carry-on duffel bag, and a backpack.

Also, yesterday I celebrated my 20th birthday! I celebrated with a dinner of my favorite American foods and a delicious cake with my family. I’m so excited to celebrate tomorrow by traveling to Costa Rica for 3 weeks! What could be  a greater birthday present?

Amanda Price

My name is Amanda Price. I am a 20-year-old junior at the University of North Alabama majoring in nursing with a minor in Spanish. I am from Florence, Alabama and am proud to call this beautiful city my home! I had never been out of the country before until this summer. Just last month I had the opportunity to travel to Senegal and it changed the way I view the world. After my experience in Senegal I have a new appreciation for the importance of cultural immersion and the value of language. I now have the opportunity to travel to Costa Rica where I will be taking Spanish classes along with other UNA students! I am excited to be a “Tican” for a few weeks and will take every opportunity that this trip throws at me (except for bungee jumping)!
