Today is the first day that we were able to host a clinic.\u00a0 We all dressed in our scubs, loaded up our medication\/equipment and headed to Casa Quemada.<\/p>\n

This is Kaitlin with some of the Honduras children at the clinic at Casa Quemada!<\/p><\/div>\n

We all had to have translators because only one team member we brought is fluent in Spanish, although I think I will be close to it after this week is over! \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n

We set up 3 stations.\u00a0 There was triage, the doctors, and then pharmacy.\u00a0 I was in triage today, but I will have a chance to work in all 3 stations before we leave.<\/p>\n

In triage, We were the first to have contact with the patients.\u00a0 We would quickly assess each one of them.\u00a0 We would check blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate, pulse oximetry, temperature, blood sugar, age, pregnancy status and for chief complaint.\u00a0 After the basic we would focus on their main problem and then assess it further.\u00a0\u00a0 Most of the cases were high blood pressure, allergies, eye irritation, diarrhea, stomach aches, bone pain, brain pain, and the common colds.\u00a0 We were also equipped to take children and pregnant mothers and we would try to provide prenatal vitamins and anti-parasite meds, as well.\u00a0 The first day we were able to see 151 patients from 9-3 with an hour lunch break.<\/p>\n

There are no words that I can say to describe how precious and sweet all the Honduran people were.\u00a0 We all cannot wait to help more in the days to come!\u00a0 Tomorrow is Sunday and we have been asked to attend one of their church services and then we will be able to go to town and shop at the city of angels.\u00a0\u00a0 I will continue to post updates.<\/p>\n
