Instructions to Contributors

The Journal of Business, Industry, and Economics seeks theoretical and applied manuscripts from any area or discipline of business. The submission fee is $50.00. JOBIE is listed in Cabell's directory.

1. Previously published manuscripts should not be submitted. A cover letter should accompany the submission and explicitly state if the manuscript is under consideration for publication elsewhere.

2. The first page should contain only the abstract and keywords. The manuscript should follow and begin with an introduction as the first major section. Do not use all capitals in titles and tables.

3. Endnotes (in plain text, not embedded) should be placed before the reference section at the end of the manuscript.

4. All References should be cited according to the Chicago Manual of Style. References should be cited within the text using the author-date style, i.e., (Jones 2001). References should be listed alphabetically at the end of the manuscript. Journals and books in the reference section should appear as follows:

      Atkinson, Keith E., Walter V. Hinton, and Judith Cassidy, 1977. Regulation of
           Management Information Systems Development. The Review of Accounting
           Information Systems 1(4): 41-5.

      Johnson, John. Economic Methods. 3rd Ed. (New York: McGraw-Hill Book
           Company, 1984), 24-56

Note: Each entry must have a year of publication, and all journal references must include volume and page numbers. Unpublished papers should not be cited as references.

5. All manuscripts should be submitted in Word Document format.

7. If you do not already have an account, please create one and sign in before submitting manuscripts. Manuscripts will not be reviewed until $50 submission fee has been processed. A check for the submission fee should be made payable to SOBIE and mailed to the editor at the address listed on the Contact Page.

Review Process

Manuscripts are reviewed by the editor to determine their consistency with the scope and purpose of the JOBIE. Manuscripts determined appropriate will be processed through a double blind review.
