Fundraising and Pill Packing – Honduras Here We Come!

Hello everyone,

Let’s make some monnn-ey!

We have been some busy college students this summer!! Our schedules have consisted of working our regular jobs, fundraisers, homework  and begining to pack for our incredible adventure to Honduras.

As of today, We have already  had a fundraiser at chick-fil-a drive-thru outside Regency Square mall, and at Frostbite close to 7-points in Florence.  We also hosted a yard sale in town and sold lots of stuff and made some much needed cash! 🙂

Last Sunday, August 29th, 2012, the group got together and started “pill packing”.  Everyone going on the trip paid an extra $40 so we could check an extra bag at the airport full of medications, and medical equipment that the honduran people and healthcare providers desperately need.  The trick is we had to make sure that no bag weighed over 50lbs!!!

“Pill Packing”

We will be leaving Florence for the Huntsville airport at 0230 Friday Morning August 3rd, 2012. That is nursing talk for 2:30 a.m.  Please keep us in your thoughts, prayers, good vibes, whatever you do!! 🙂 Make sure to check back as I will be blogging while in Honduras about all the exciting things we experience!

Hey Everyone!! My name is Alyssa Pounders and I am a 4th level nursing student at the University of North Alabama. I am currently set to graduate December of 2012 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. Whenever I am not busy studying I love to go out for a run or hit the Tennessee River on jet-ski's. Basically other than that, I am busy living the fun filled life of a 22 year old college girl. I earn my money by waitressing and working at a local hospital. This August I plan to take an educational adventure to Honduras and 7 of my fellow nursing students are coming with me. We have the guidance of Mrs. Charlotte Cramer our nursing instructor who will be coming along with us. Follow and keep up with my blog and I'll fill you in on all of our exciting adventures in Honduras!
