Peru

Nazca lines

Today we started the day with our flyover of the Nazca lines. It was so incredible to see. The way they were so perfectly placed and symmetrical yet the people never had an aerial view to work with. It really makes you wonder about their techniques and how they could make something so perfect. It’s mind blowing that they have been there so long due to the lack of rain to change the landscape. After leaving the Nazca lines we made our way to the Chauchilla cemetery. This cemetery was made up of 12 grave sites in the Atacama desert. These graves range from 400 b.c. to 400 a.d. Many of them have been robbed by tomb raiders, but they were able to preserve these 12 sites. All around the trail were human remains due to the carelessness of the grave robbers. To see the mummies arranged the same way they were buried thousands of years ago was amazing. The graves were arranged as rooms in the ground rather than being buried with dirt. This trip keeps getting better! Can’t wait to get to Machu Picchu!

I have always been fascinated with the world and travel. I love different cultures and meeting new people in new places. I have traveled many places within the states and also spent a month in Okinawa, Japan. Seeing the many different cultures throughout Peru is going to be incredible. Also climbing Machu Picchu and taking a boat ride down the Amazon is a once in a lifetime opportunity. I’m looking forward to this trip of a lifetime.
