On a Mission- Chelsea Hughes

We have spent the last couple of days truly soaking in the Chinese culture.  We had a class on the development, food, language, and art of Tianjin.  During the class, I fell in love with all the different types of artwork, especially the ones made out of CANDY!  I was now on a mission to find this beautiful art, so the next day we ventured out to Culture Street again.  While on my hunt for candy art, I came across a man who was hand painting calligraphy on to a scroll.  It was so amazing to watch him effortlessly create this colorful painting.   After purchasing my scroll, I found a sweet little man creating different animals out of melted sugar.  I was so excited to have found my candy art!  Mission Accomplished!

Chelsea Hughes

I graduated from UNA in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Communications / Theatre and a minor in Geography. After my first Geography class, I fell in love with the world. I found myself wanting to soak up as many cultures as possible and the best way to do this was to TRAVEL! In 2011 I was able to study theatre in New York City. I lived there 3 months and met people from America, England, Paris, and New Zealand. Our friendships opened so many wonderful doors, one being my first trip out of the country. In 2012, I got the amazing opportunity to stay with a friend for two weeks in London. All of these experiences not only have made me a better actress, but a better human being. Follow me on my next adventure of learning and exploring this beautiful world, and remember: “Not all who wander are lost.”

        • I am so sorry Emily! For some reason I can’t always load my email here. And we have been so busywith class and traveling too. This is our last week in TianJin, but maybe we could hang out after the show. Its tomorrow at 7pm on the third floor of the main TJFSU building (the buliding at the front of the campus). Once again, I am so sorry you are just now hearing from me! Hope to see you tomorrow!
